The Classification Audit feature is designed for scenarios where you have an existing list of products with HTS codes - typically provided by a client - and you want to verify whether those classifications are correct.
How to run a Classification Audit:
- Upload your product list via Upload Products. Include the existing HS codes in your file.
- Once uploaded, from the product list view, click Classification Audit at the top of the products table.
- Confirm Country of destination by selecting it from the drop-down list (or leave the pre-selected by default).
- The system will classify each product independently and compare its result to the classification you provided.
- For each product, the audit returns:
- Gaia's suggested classification and confidence level
- Suggested action: one of three outcomes:
- Proceed - The existing classification matches Gaia's recommendation with high confidence. No change needed.
- Switch to Gaia's suggested classification - Gaia is confident the existing code is incorrect and recommends an alternative.
- Manual Review - The input description is too vague for a high-confidence result; human review is advised.
- Enhanced product description - A Gaia optimized classification-ready description used by the system to improve the classification results.
- Discrepancy analysis - A detailed breakdown showing where the existing code and Gaia's code agree (e.g., agree at 8-digit level) and where they diverge (e.g., differ at 10-digit level), with an explanation of the meaningful distinction.
- Full classification reasoning and relevant customs rulings
- For each product, click the pencil icon to make a final determination: accept the original code, adopt Gaia's recommendation, or enter a new code manually.
Tip: If you are processing a large list for the first time, contact your support representative. The team can assist with the initial upload and help ensure the process runs efficiently.
